Thompson International Portfolio

The establishment of The Peter Thompson International Investment Portfolio was made possible by a gift to the College of Business and Economics in honor of alumnus Peter Thompson, Class of 1950 , the former director of exporting for Campbell Soup Company. The primary purpose of the portfolio is to provide a framework within which undergraduates are exposed to an experiential learning activity in International Markets and Investments; the portfolio started with an initial value of $10,000 on January 1, 1995.

The course is designed to give students an opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge and understanding of the increasingly interconnected global economy that will be of value to them in securing their first jobs and throughout their careers and lives. Emphasis is placed on researching the economies of foreign countries, their financial markets, and the opportunities for foreign portfolio investors.

The Thompson Portfolio benefits Lehigh students in several ways.  It enhances the international and experiential learning dimensions of the curriculum and adds to the global dimension of the CBE's undergraduate program.  The portfolio helps to enable the College to meet the challenge of educating future leaders in the new global business environment.
